HiBy RS2 II R2R HiFi Pure Audio Player

The HiBy RS2 II is a compact pure audio digital music player that brings flagship-level R2R performance into a highly portable form. Built around HiBy’s third-generation Darwin III architecture, it delivers natural, highly resolving sound with excellent control, low distortion, and the musical character that R2R is known for. Designed for listeners who prioritize pure local playback and high-fidelity sound over wireless streaming, the RS2 II combines a high-precision resistor ladder DAC, powerful dual headphone outputs, dual microSD storage, and a refined PureAudio operating system in a pocket-friendly chassis.

Darwin III Flagship R2R Architecture

The RS2 II inherits the same Darwin III audio architecture found in HiBy’s full-size flagship RS8 II. At its core is a high-precision R2R resistor network controlled by a powerful FPGA featuring more than 35,000 logic elements and 40 DSP units. This architecture allows advanced digital processing including adjustable FIR filtering, harmonic control, NOS/oversampling switching, and direct DSD handling. The result is a clean, natural, and emotionally engaging presentation with reduced digital harshness and excellent tonal density.

High-Performance Analog Stage with Quad Amplifiers

A fully balanced analog stage employs four OPA1612 operational amplifiers for voltage amplification and four flagship-grade OPA1622 chips for current amplification. This robust design delivers strong driving power while maintaining very low noise and distortion. The 3.5 mm single-ended output provides up to 172.5 mW, while the 4.4 mm balanced output reaches 630 mW, making the player capable of driving a wide range of IEMs and demanding headphones with authority and control.

Ultra-Low Distortion and Clean Signal Path

The complete signal path is engineered for purity. THD+N is kept below 0.0008 percent, with a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 120 dB on the balanced output and a dynamic range of 105 dB. Dedicated femtosecond-grade crystal oscillators for the 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz families further minimize jitter, ensuring precise timing and stable high-resolution playback.

PureAudio HiByOS for Dedicated Music Playback

The RS2 II runs a streamlined PureAudio version of HiByOS, a Linux-based system optimized exclusively for high-resolution local music playback. Free from Android, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, the interface focuses on fast response, stable performance, and clean signal integrity. Users benefit from intuitive navigation, gapless playback support, and precise audio customization tools while avoiding background processes that can interfere with sound quality.

Dual microSD Storage for Large Local Libraries

Two independent microSD card slots each support cards up to 2 TB, providing a total expandable capacity of 4 TB. This design allows users to carry extensive high-resolution music collections without relying on internal storage or cloud streaming, making the player ideal for offline listening.

Larger High-Resolution Touchscreen

A 3.55-inch touchscreen with 480 × 800 resolution offers a significantly larger and sharper display than the previous generation. Narrower bezels and improved visual clarity enhance daily usability while maintaining the compact overall dimensions of the player.

Versatile Connectivity and System Integration

In addition to headphone outputs, both the 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm jacks can be switched to Line Out mode for connecting external amplifiers or systems. The USB-C port supports USB DAC functionality, USB audio output, and coaxial digital output, allowing the RS2 II to serve as a high-quality digital transport or desktop DAC.

Compact and Refined Portable Design

Measuring just 91.95 × 62.05 × 18.6 mm and weighing approximately 156 g in the standard aluminum version, the RS2 II is genuinely pocketable. A limited brass edition is also available for those seeking a denser, more premium feel. The 3500 mAh battery delivers around 8–9 hours of continuous playback depending on the output used.
